Making a Deal with The Devil for One's Soul. Heinrichs were manifactured for Tiffany's, Gorham, and some of the Finest Shops of the time in New York and Paris. These are Stamped with the Paris New York mark and are Pre WW1. As Some items were custom orders, He specialized in designing and making Coffee Urns, Coffee Serving Sets and specialized in Metalwork that is much sought after.

It is Very possible that these were made as a Special Order, or for a particular Client to go with his Coffee Servers, or place of Businesses. Very Rare, Very Unusual, Very Intriguing. I've had this set for over 20 years, and never came across another. They are made of the finest China/Porcelain, are beautifully styled, and are trimmed in fine Double 24K Gold.

The image of Mephistopheles hovering over the flames of Hell is very detailed, vibrant, and exceptionally well done on each cup, and the image is also on each saucer. Even as you drink your coffee - the image of Lucifer will still be in view, reminding one of FAUST'S Famous Tale. If your familiar with Goethe's Faust, and The Faust Legend.

It tells of a man (Faust) who is tired of studying, and wants the finest things life has to offer: fine living, wealth, women, and honour. Faust makes a pact with Mephistopheles in Blood, and agrees to give him his Soul. In return, Mephistopheles serves him, and gives him everything he asks for while here on Earth.

He cannot however live Forever, and Upon his demise, He essentially sells his soul to The Devil, forever in the Gates of Hell. So one has to ask... Again for great, and interesting conversation...

In very fine condition, They appear to never have been used. If they were, they were very well taken care of. You will probably never see another set in your lifetime. In overall Excellent Antique condition = the colors are vibrant, the gold is brilliant, and the glaze is so fine, it almost glows and sparkles under bright light.

Some points to note: 1 saucer, underneath on the bottom rim has a tiny flea bite nick, one cup has a very tiny fleabite in the rim which I believe is factory as the original gold is intact. One cup has a very hard to see line in the glaze that comes down from the rim about 2 inches = its very difficult to see, may have been in the making or from storage, = but the cup still holds liquid, can be used, and still displays beautifully.

Each cup is 5" inches tall, the opening is 2 7/8" wide, and each saucer is 4 3/4 across. They display beautifully in a China Cabinet or on a Sideboard. The item "Rare 1890's Faust Legend Deal with The Devil Metisopholes Porcelain Service" is in sale since Thursday, April 16, 2020.
